My name is Steve Yoshida. I work as a systems engineer. I attended college at San Jose State University and have worked in the San Jose Silicon Valley area ever since – primarily in the semiconductor industry. Without getting too location specific, I live about a 20 minute walk from the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Since I was quite young I’ve had an interest in building things. I was raised in a small town about one hour south of where I live now. Most of the industry in the town I grew up in is agricultural based and my parents had a carnation nursery. For me, growing up in the country meant being a good 20 to 30 minute drive from any kind of real store – never mind a hobby shop or radio shack. Because of this relative isolation you learn to fix things with what you have on hand and I suppose this is where I found an interest in putting things together.
